 Encountering
Jesus
How People Come to Faith
And Discover Discipleship
By Anthony Gittins
This book is a wonderful resource for a parish Bible Study or individual use. Each of the short seventeen chapters contains a Gospel story and a brief reflection. The stories all have something to do with a person's life being changed by an encounter with Jesus. The author gleans from the story, things we might learn about being a disciple. Choose a few chapters, or use all of them over the course of a year.
INVITATION:
We urge every congregation in the diocese to use this resource during the next year. You can choose Lent or Advent, make it a weekend retreat, spread it out over the year in Sunday morning or evening classes. You can use all or part of it. Just use it please!
STUDY GUIDE:
A study guide for the book is available, prepared by the adult education task group of the Christian Formation Council of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. The introduction, the study guide and the evaluation form are available for downloading here. The book can be purchased from St. Bede's Books in Baltimore ($14.95). The book and a hard copy of the study guide can be borrowed from the diocesan Resource Center. For more information contact Klara Tammany, Missioner for Christian Education and Formation.
